Learning THROUGH Problem Solving

In order to embrace the philosophy of the revised program of studies, teachers will need to create opportunities for students to construct their own meaning through problem solving. This webinar will present several examples of problems that could be used to create discussion and engage students in learning through problem solving.


John Scammell has been a high school math teacher for 18 years. During that time, he has taught most of the High School courses with Edmonton Public Schools, including IB, AP and the non-academic streams. Most recently, John was Department Head of math at Harry Ainlay. Currently he is a consultant with Edmonton Public Schools and part of the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium's Math Team. He has served on numerous Alberta Education committees like item writing, diploma marking and resource review.
