This recorded webinar provides a general overview of the roles and responsibilities of Alberta Education. The basic structure of education in Alberta, including the areas of provincial and local autonomy, is covered. In addition, a summary of Alberta’s curriculum, the teaching quality standard and the roles of the Alberta Teacher’s Association are included in this webinar.

ABOUT THIS PRESENTER:
waldemar.JPG Waldemar Riemer is the Director for International Education Services of the Education Program Standards and Assessment Division at Alberta Education.

Alberta Education establishes policy, sets standards, provides strategic leadership and sets the framework for international education, in collaboration with foreign educational authorities, federal and pan-Canadian bodies, and other provincial ministries, to enable international education activities and initiatives in the province’s Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Waldemar has worked for the department in the area of international education for over 10 years and is pleased to have welcomed and worked with many visiting and exchange teachers from Australia, China, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America during that time.
